Discovery Series #13, also known as Double Cask, is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Bardstown Bourbon Company, bottled at 55.4% ABV (110.8 proof). It blends four Kentucky bourbons aged between 8 and 15 years, drawn from more than one mash bill, one of them 74% corn, 18% rye and 8% malted barley.
After blending, the bourbon is double-barrelled, finished in American oak and then in Hungarian oak.
The nose combines caramel, vanilla and dried fruit with baking spice, clove, cinnamon and a hint of campfire ash. On the palate sweet vanilla and caramel meet toasted oak and toffee, in a rich, fairly thick texture. The finish is long and warming, with clove, pepper and a touch of ash.
