Bardstown Bourbon Company – Origin Series High Wheat Bourbon (75cl, 53%)

Bardstown Bourbon Company Origin Series High Wheat is a six-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 53% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was distilled, aged and bottled on the company's own site in Bardstown. The mash bill is 53% corn, 39% wheat and 8% malted barley, well above the roughly 20% wheat at which most wheated bourbons stop. The whiskey went into barrel at a low entry proof of 108. Ripe apricot and lemon on the nose sit alongside leather and crème brûlée. The palate is bold, with oak and pastry, and the lightly spiced, full-bodied finish builds in warmth.
