Barolo Fontanin DOC - Livia Fontana

Nebbiolo from Castiglione Falletto, grown at about 300-350 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand with careful selection in mid-October, then aged for about 40 months in traditional oak barrels before further ageing in bottle in the cellar. It shows a deep red colour with ruby to garnet reflections. The nose is complex, with macerated violet, balsamic notes, liquorice root and nutmeg. The palate is clean and structured, with soft but well-defined tannins. It suits red meats, roasts, game and aged cheeses.
