Barrel Bomb is a wine barrel-finished bourbon bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. The spirit was distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley, then blended with some of Cooperstown Distillery's own distillate in New York.
It is aged first in new American white oak, then finished in Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels from California, which add red fruit and tannic depth.
The nose combines vanilla, caramel, mesquite smoke and fresh oak, with pear and floral notes behind. The palate is buttery and maple-rich, with baking spice, almond, chocolate and red fruit. The finish is medium and drying, with orange peel, grapefruit rind and oak tannins.
