This is Edition 001 of Barrell's Cask Finish Series, a cask strength blend of six straight bourbons from Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, in a 75cl bottle. The bourbons range from 6 to 14 years old and come from several mash bills.
Each one was finished separately in Mizunara casks for eighteen months before blending, so the team could judge how much Mizunara character every component took on. The finished blend is bottled at 58.21% (116.42 proof).
Mizunara oak is associated with agarwood, sandalwood and incense notes, and reviewers describe these sitting alongside a bourbon base without overwhelming it.
