Barrell Bourbon Cask Strength Batch 038 is a blend of straight bourbons from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Maryland, bottled at 55.69% ABV by Barrell Craft Spirits. It is the USA 250th Anniversary limited edition, marking the years 1776 to 2026. The batch was built in stages. Full-bodied barrels with black cherry and nutty, oak-forward character form the base, followed by younger barrels with stone fruit and pepper, then older barrels showing milk chocolate, cinnamon and pecan. The component barrels range from 8 to 15 years old, and the bourbon is unfiltered. The nose is fresh apple, tart berries, kiwi and mango. On the palate come confetti cake, honey wine, mint and black cherry, and the long finish brings crème brûlée, milk chocolate, pecan and candied lemon peel.
