Barrell Bourbon Foundation is a blend of straight bourbons aged 5 to 9 years, from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Maryland. It is bottled at 50% in a 75cl bottle by Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky.
It is the company's first bourbon not bottled at cask strength, following a decade of cask strength releases. The derived mash bill is 73% corn, 23% rye and 4% malted barley, and the rye gives richness and spice.
The nose combines honey, candied strawberry, dark cherry and grilled cantaloupe. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with maple pecans, dark chocolate and cinnamon. The finish is long and creamy, with cinnamon, toffee and vanilla pudding.
