Barrell Rye Batch 002 Cask Strength 5 Year Old (75cl, 57.8%)

A five-year-old rye whiskey from Barrell Craft Spirits, bottled at cask strength, 57.75% (115.5 proof). This is batch 002, and each bottle is individually numbered. Barrell does not distil. It blends finished barrels from other distilleries and bottles the result without dilution or chill filtration, so the strength is simply where the blend ended up. The nose offers rye spice, vanilla and toasted oak with dried herbs behind. The palate is full and oily, with black pepper, clove, caramel and a dry herbal rye character, and the finish is long and warming, with spice and dry oak tannin.
