Basil Hayden Cognac Cask Reserve is a limited-edition straight bourbon from Suntory Global Spirits, made by The James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. It is bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle.
The brand's high-rye Kentucky bourbon is finished in French oak casks that held only Cognac for twenty to twenty-five years. It is the first Basil Hayden release built around that idea.
On the nose there is honey, vanilla, ripe pear, dried apricot, toasted oak, floral notes, caramel and light baking spices. The palate brings honey, vanilla bean, caramel, dried fruit, Cognac sweetness, orange peel, cinnamon and gentle spice.
