Basil Hayden Golden Rye is a small batch Kentucky straight rye whiskey, made at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The aim is to set the spice of rye alongside a gentle, bourbon-like sweetness, giving a lighter style of rye.
The nose is light spice with vanilla, honey, caramel and gentle oak. The palate shows toasted rye grain, brown sugar, vanilla and mild pepper, and the finish is clean and warming with soft spice and a subtle oak sweetness.
