A Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 40% ABV in a 1.75 litre bottle. It is distilled at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, using a mashbill with a high proportion of rye.
Basil Hayden's is a small batch bourbon, introduced in 1992 as part of Jim Beam's Small Batch Bourbon Collection. It once carried an 8-year age statement but now has none, relying on hand-picked barrels instead.
The nose is sweet vanilla and light caramel with black pepper and baking spices. The palate is soft, with brown sugar, cracked pepper, cinnamon and baked pear. The finish is medium, with charred oak and dried fruit.
