Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon is Jim Beam's small batch bourbon, made 200 years after the original recipe from a similar mash. It contains more rye than ordinary bourbons, which gives a more intense taste. It is bottled after eight years in new white oak casks.
The nose is light and fruity, with citrus, tea, vanilla and peppermint. The palate is lightly spicy, with pepper, caramel and vanilla, then a touch of minerality and leather. The finish is short and spiced.
