Basil Hayden's Toast Bourbon (75cl, 40%)

Toast is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Basil Hayden's, made at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont. It is bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle and was launched in 2021 as the brand's fourth permanent expression. The mash bill uses brown rice in place of the brand's usual rye: 63% corn, 27% brown rice and 10% malted barley. A portion of the whiskey is given a secondary finish in barrels that were toasted gently and then flash-charred. The tasting notes describe sweet vanilla with rich roasted notes underneath. The palate layers toasted oak, caramel, vanilla and dried fruit over a smooth, creamy body.
