Basil Hayden Toast is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The mash bill uses brown rice in place of rye. After maturing in new charred American oak, the bourbon is finished in a barrel that has been slowly toasted and then flash-charred, and the result is blended back with bourbon that was not toasted.
The nose is sweet vanilla with rich roasted notes. The palate is soft and round, with vanilla and roasted flavours and little spice. The finish is smooth and savoury.
