Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon is a small batch bourbon bottled by Nelson's Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, Tennessee, in a 750ml bottle at 45.2% ABV (90.4 proof). The brand dates to the late 1870s and was revived by Charles and Andy Nelson in 2014.
Each batch blends just four barrels of MGP Indiana bourbon, aged between six and eight years in new charred American oak. Two high rye mash bills and two yeast strains go into the mix, giving an overall recipe of about 64% corn, 30% rye and 6% malted barley.
The nose brings maple syrup, caramel, floral notes and citrus zest. On the palate bold rye spice meets vanilla, apricot, gingerbread and toffee, and the finish is long, with cherry, dried plum and warming spice.
