Ben Holladay Rickhouse Proof Bourbon (70cl)

Ben Holladay Rickhouse Proof is a cask-strength wheated bourbon from Missouri, in a 70cl bottle. It comes from a distillery in Weston that has been distilling since 1856 and is described as the oldest west of the Mississippi, still on its original site. Master Distiller Kyle Merklein uses soft red wheat in place of the usual rye. The bourbon is aged for at least six years in the distillery's original multi-storey rickhouses and bottled at natural barrel proof, so each batch differs slightly. The nose offers creamy toffee, vanilla and burnt sugar over rich oak char. On the palate come juicy apple and stone fruit with sweet spice, peppercorn warmth and silky caramel. Cinnamon and pepper linger in the finish with oaky vanilla and butterscotch.
