A Highland single malt from Ben Nevis, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2022 after 25 years in a single sherry butt. It comes from cask 2203 at 51.9% ABV, one of 244 bottles in a 70cl size.
It was bottled by Blackadder, a family-owned independent bottler founded in 1995 by Robin Tucek, as Statement Edition #41. Blackadder's Statement Series stands for single casks, minimal intervention and the fullest expression of cask and distillate.
Ben Nevis ferments in wooden washbacks with brewer's yeast, and its slow distillation gives a rich, deep spirit that is said to take on a ripe, chewy texture in ex-sherry casks.
