This is a 29 year old Ben Nevis, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2026 by The Wealth Spirit from a single hogshead, cask 1398. It is bottled at 42.3%, and 250 bottles were filled.
The whisky has a coastal lean, with a briny, mineral and gently smoky character and exotic fruit that builds as it opens up.
The nose begins with old paint pots, brine, seawater, saltpetre and damp ashes before lifting into mango, pink banana and papaya. On the palate, exotic fruits come first, followed by ashes, oils, seaweed and waxy tones. The finish is medium, with maritime freshness returning, along with pepper, salt and a touch of bitterness at the end.
