This is a nine-year-old single cask Ben Nevis from the Highlands, bottled in 2022 by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 78.64, under the name Mesmerising Allure. It comes from a distillation in 2013, and 457 bottles were filled at a cask strength of 67.2% ABV.
The whisky spent its first four years in bourbon wood before moving into a second fill oloroso butt.
The nose brings rum and raisin ice cream, salted caramel, chocolate halva and cherry pipe tobacco. On the palate come custard tarts, dark chilli chocolate, orange marmalade and dried dates, and the finish carries charred oak, cardamom and cumin.
