Benchmark Extra Strong Full Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 62.5% ABV (125 proof), the same strength at which it goes into the barrel. It is described as bold and robust, and meant for sipping. The brand is named after the McAfee brothers, who explored the area around present-day Frankfort in the later 1700s. It is distilled, aged and bottled by Buffalo Trace, using its traditional mash bill number 1, which is low in rye. Deep brown sugar and chocolate lead on the nose, followed by caramel and baking spice on the palate. The finish is long and rich.
