Benchmark Full Proof Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, in a 750ml bottle at 62.5% ABV (125 proof). It is aged for about three years in new, charred American oak barrels.
It is bottled at the same strength at which it went into the barrel, so no water is added, and it is not chill-filtered.
The nose offers brown sugar, dark cocoa, caramel and toasted oak. The palate is full and rich, with toffee, vanilla, cinnamon, dried cherry and orange peel, then liquorice. The finish is long and warm, with charred oak and baking spice.
