Benchmark Old No.8 is a Kentucky bourbon, in a 1.75 litre bottle. The name refers to the benchmarks, the surveyor marks left by the McAfee brothers, James, George and Robert, who travelled west from Virginia in 1773 and surveyed land that is now home to Buffalo Trace Distillery.
The nose has caramel with a light stone-fruit background. The palate is sturdy, with leather, dry tobacco, a touch of oak and a hint of dried cherries. The finish is smooth.
