Benchmark Small Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon from Buffalo Trace Distillery, bottled at 45% in a 750ml bottle. It is aged for a minimum of four years.
The Master Distiller chooses barrels that meet a tighter flavour profile for this bottling. It uses Buffalo Trace's Mashbill #1, a corn-dominant recipe with low rye content.
The nose shows vanilla and oak, then cherries, a touch of raspberry and caramel. The palate is soft and fruity, with cherry and peach, then caramel, honey, tannic oak and a little leather. The finish is medium, with cherry, orange, caramel and light oak.
