Benriach – 30 Year Old Peated (75cl, 46%)

Benriach 30 Year Old is a peated Speyside single malt, matured for a minimum of thirty years and bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It carries its natural cask colour. Four cask types go into it: sherry casks, bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks and port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley, married into a single whisky. The distillery was the first in Speyside to release a peated expression after the Second World War, using peated malt laid down in the 1970s. The colour is mahogany. The nose brings stewed plum, baked orange, smoked walnut and cinnamon cocoa. On the palate are dark fruit, manuka honey and chocolate raisin, followed by a long, smoky-sweet finish.
