A 40 year old Speyside single malt from Benriach, bottled at 43.5% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was chosen by master blender Rachel Barrie.
It matured in American oak bourbon casks, with port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley also contributing. Benriach began making small amounts of peated whisky in the 1970s, which was unusual for Speyside at the time.
The long maturation gives a soft dram, with notes of silky cherry, nectarine, red apple and peach.
