BenRiach Malting Season is an unpeated Speyside single malt, bottled at 48.7% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is the first expression in a century made entirely from barley malted on BenRiach's own floor maltings.
The spirit was distilled on 2 November 2012 from Concerto barley and matured in bourbon and virgin oak barrels. This first edition was drawn from 23 barrels and yielded 6,672 bottles.
The nose offers barley sugar, almond fudge and poached orchard apple. The palate is smooth and rounded, with vanilla and honeyed pear, and a finish carrying the lasting nuttiness of slowly kilned malt.
