BenRiach The Forty is a 40 year old peated Speyside single malt, bottled at 43.5% with natural cask-imparted colour. It was created by master blender Rachel Barrie from some of the distillery's rarest malt.
The whisky combines fine bourbon casks of American oak with port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley. The bourbon casks bring honeyed pomelo and ripe stone fruits, while the port casks add dark chocolate, rich plum and walnut.
The nose is sweet orange, plum and honey pomelo, with chocolate-coated berries, walnut and cherry liqueur. The palate offers orchard fruits, morello cherry, nectarine, stewed red apple and white peach, ending on walnut and kumquat.
