The Sixteen is an unpeated 16 year old single malt from Benriach on Speyside, in a 70cl bottle at 43% ABV. It is part of the Benriach core range and is based on a revised recipe of the earlier version.
It was matured in a selection of bourbon, sherry and new oak casks.
The nose is apple turnover with brown sugar, biscuity malt, a hint of apricot and toasted oak. On the palate come creamy barley, peach and apricot, then apple crumble and cooked plums. The finish brings honeyed nuts, soft malt, a touch of oak char and woody spice.
