Benriach The Sixteen is an unpeated Speyside single malt, matured for at least 16 years in three types of cask: bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak casks. The virgin oak comes from bespoke barrels made in Brown-Forman's own cooperages. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
This reformulated version returned to the core range in February 2023, succeeding the original 16-year-old.
The nose brings baked apple and creamy hazelnut malt, with ginger-spiced apricot and honey. On the palate are spiced stewed apple, stone fruit and mellow nutty oak, with honeyed malt and candied peel.
