Benromach 10 Year Old is a lightly peated Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from the distillery at Forres, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The barley is malted to roughly 10 to 12 parts per million phenol, which gives a gentle smoke.
It matures for ten years in a mix of 80% ex-bourbon casks and 20% first-fill Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose has apples and pears, then dates, figs and raisins, with milk chocolate, leather and a thread of peat smoke. The palate is oily, with stewed apples, dried fruit, nutty malt, orange peel and cinnamon, and smoke in the background. The finish is medium-long, with dried fruit, oak, butterscotch and soft ash.
