This is a 10 year old Speyside single malt from Benromach. The distillery reopened in 1998 and aims to recreate the Speyside whisky typical of the 1960s, using a little peat in the malting for a hint of smoke.
The whisky is matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks, then given a final year in oloroso sherry casks. The colour is dark gold.
The nose offers rich sherry, nuts, old oak, chocolate and charred casks. The palate is rounded, with malt, ripe red berries and gentle peat smoke, and the finish carries lightly burnt caramel.
