This is a single cask Benromach distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2026 at cask strength, 59.7%, in a 70cl bottle. It spent eleven years in a first-fill oloroso hogshead, which has left a marked mark on the spirit.
Benromach, founded in 1898, aims to recreate the Speyside style of the 1960s, using a little peat in the malting for a hint of smoke. The colour is dark amber.
The nose is meaty and animal, with grill and barbecue notes, leather-bound books, raisin and sweet dark spices. The palate shows dark chocolate, bitter orange, rock sugar, peppercorn and demerara sugar, and the finish carries gentle peat smoke.
