Benromach 15 Year Old is a lightly peated Speyside single malt from Forres, bottled at 43% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is matured exclusively in first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, and the malt is peated to around 12 parts per million.
Benromach was founded in 1898 and fell silent in 1983. Gordon & MacPhail bought it in 1993 and reopened it in 1998.
The nose has toffee, caramel, forest fruits and dark chocolate, with black pepper and soft peat smoke. The palate is creamy and sweet, with ripe apple, black cherry, toasted malt, orange peel and a honeyed richness. The finish is medium, with soft peat smoke, dried fruit, leather and a little clove.
