Benromach Cask Strength Batch 1 is a single malt Scotch whisky from Benromach, a Speyside distillery founded in 1898. This is the 2014 release, and it comes in a box and a 70cl bottle.
It is bottled straight from the cask without dilution. The nose combines malt and peat with dark chocolate, dried fruit, sweet spice and a little smoke. On the palate, oak and malt meet vanilla and honey, leading to a lingering finish of nuts and gentle peat. Adding water brings out more sweetness and a softer feel.
