Benromach Virgin Kiln Dried Oak is a single malt from Benromach Distillery in Speyside, distilled in 2012 and sold in a 70cl bottle in its case. The malt was dried in kilns fired with virgin oak wood, which brings flavours that differ from the usual peat smoke.
The nose shows vanilla and sweet spice, with hints of citrus and a delicate acacia honey sweetness. The palate is rich and round, with ripe fruit, caramel and a light, lingering note of toasted oak. The finish is long, leaving warm spice and a trace of vanilla.
