Bhakta Brandy 27-07 is a French brandy conceived by Raj Peter Bhakta as a one-time release, bottled at 45% ABV. The name points to an intended age window of 7 to 27 years, but a cellar-master error drew in much older barrels, so the components span 18 to 49 years.
The blend is 90% AOC Calvados from Normandy and 10% Armagnac from Gascony, finished in casks that previously held Islay single malt Scotch whisky. That adds a thread of peat smoke to the fruit.
The nose offers baked apple, dried apricot and crème caramel over walnut and old oak. The palate is deep and layered, with a long, warming finish.
