Big Peat Christmas Edition 2019 is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, the ninth Christmas release of this Islay malt. It is bottled at cask strength, 53.7%, in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour.
The blend draws on Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore and Port Ellen.
The nose is of warm bonfire ash, sea air and spray, with tar and peat smoke over everything. On the palate come seaweed, peat and old leather, then boat varnish and warm tar. The finish is long and warming, with damp peat, peat smoke and iodine.
