Blackened is a blend of straight bourbons and straight ryes, finished in black brandy casks. It was created by Dave Pickerell in collaboration with Metallica.
During finishing the casks undergo BLACK NOISE, a sonic enhancement process using low hertz frequencies from a Metallica playlist. The whiskey is bottled at 45% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
Expect caramel, vanilla and dried fruit on the nose with brandy sweetness, a rounded palate of honey, baking spice and dark fruit with rye pepper, and a warm, smooth finish.
Tasting Notes
caramel and vanilla lead, with dried fruit and a brandy sweetness underneath
rounded and full, with honey, dark fruit, baking spice and rye pepper over toasted oak
warm and smooth, closing on vanilla, spice and lingering brandy cask sweetness
