Bladnoch 29 Year Old Bicentennial Release is a Lowland single malt distilled in 1988 and released to mark the distillery's 200th anniversary, 1817 to 2017. It is bottled at 41.2% in a 750ml bottle.
It was drawn from just two casks, matured in Oloroso sherry and then finished for 18 months in Moscatel wine casks. Only 200 individually numbered bottles were filled, each with a gold stopper and presentation box.
The tasting notes describe a nose of rich old sherry, acacia honey, beeswax, orange peel, fruitcake, coffee and a little chocolate. The palate is soft and silky, with dark chocolate, ginger, spicy citrus, sweet oak and a hint of black pepper. The finish is long, warming and honeyed.
