Bladnoch Samsara is a Lowland single malt bottled at 46.7% ABV, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It comes from Bladnoch, near Wigtown in the south-west of Scotland.
The whisky was matured in first-fill ex-bourbon and first-fill ex-Californian red wine casks. Samsara is Sanskrit for rebirth, and this was the first release after the distillery reopened in 2016, following its closure in 2009.
The nose has red berries, dark cherry, vanilla and honey with a floral lift. The palate is oily, with baked apple, cinnamon and dark chocolate, and the long finish is gently spiced.
