Blanton's Char No. 4 is a 2022 limited edition of Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon. Char levels run from 1 to 4, and Blanton's uses Char No. 4, the highest, for its barrels.
The heavy char caramelises the natural sugars in the wood and acts as a filter for impurities left from distilling. It brings sweet vanilla and caramel notes from the oak, and Char No. 4 also strengthens smoky and earthy notes.
