Pact No. 12 is the twelfth edition of Blood Oath, a Kentucky straight bourbon blended by Lux Row Master Distiller John Rempe and bottled at 49.3% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is the first in the series to have a double Italian wine cask finish.
The blend joins 9-year and 12-year ryed bourbons with a 7-year ryed bourbon finished first in Montepulciano casks from Abruzzo, then in Sangiovese casks from Tuscany. The mashbill is not disclosed.
The nose offers dark caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and dried fruit, with ripe red fruit, dried herbs and sun-baked tomato leaves from the Sangiovese. The palate moves through stone fruit and caramel to cocoa, leather and oak.
