Blue Spot 7 Year Old is an Irish single pot still whiskey that disappeared from shelves in the 1960s and has since been revived by Mitchell & Son. It is triple distilled.
The whiskey is matured in a combination of bourbon, sherry and Madeira casks.
The nose is bold, with warming ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon alongside banana custard, apple pie and frangipane tart. The palate is full-bodied and spicy, with black pepper and Sichuan peppercorns. The finish brings milk chocolate, fresh fruit and nuts, with a faint hint of rum.
