Blue Spot Cask Strength 7 Year Old is a single pot still Irish whiskey from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, in a 750ml bottle. It is the first cask strength release in the Spot range. The age statement reflects the youngest component, and the vatting includes Madeira-aged whiskey up to 20 years old, alongside whiskey from ex-bourbon barrels and ex-sherry butts.
The nose has butterscotch, toffee, pineapple, kiwi and green banana, with hazelnut praline, espresso and cinnamon. The palate is smooth but powerful, with baked apple, plum skin, clove, black pepper, toasted wood and coconut, and a dark, vinous richness from the Madeira. The finish is long and warming, with hazelnut, roasted almond and caramel.
