Blue Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey from the Spot range of Mitchell & Son, the Dublin wine and spirits merchant. It is made with Midleton Distillery in County Cork from malted and unmalted barley, and bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration.
It is matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, often Pedro Ximenez. The Spot whiskeys take their name from the coloured spots once marked on casks to show age.
The nose offers fresh orchard fruit, with apple, pear and ripe grape, alongside vanilla pod, toffee and citrus zest. The palate is silky and layered, with orchard fruit character.
