Bodega Cat Straight Rye is a straight rye whiskey at 45% ABV (90 proof), sold in a 750ml bottle. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey is aged for a minimum of 3 years in new American oak with a number 3 char. It was distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky.
The brand, Bodega Cat Spirits Co., was founded by comedians Mark Normand and Sam Morril and takes its name from New York City's bodega cats.
The nose offers cinnamon and earthy herbs with caramel and toasted oak. Honeyed rye, mint and a touch of malt sweetness lead the palate, and the long finish carries spice, dry oak, dark chocolate and citrus zest.
