Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC from Tenuta San Guido is one of Italy's most celebrated red wines, produced in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast. It is made mainly from Cabernet Sauvignon with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc, and is aged for about 24 months in French oak barriques.
The wine shows an intense ruby red colour tending towards garnet with age. On the nose there are blackberry, cassis, tobacco, chocolate and a light balsamic note. On the palate it is rich and layered, with silky tannins and vibrant acidity, giving long persistence.
