This is the 1985 vintage of La Grande Année, the prestige cuvée of Champagne Bollinger in Aÿ, offered here in a 150cl magnum. It is made only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru grapes.
Bollinger's vintage Champagne was renamed Grande Année in 1976 and became La Grande Année in 1997.
The nose is complex, with smoky yellow orchard fruit, walnuts, fino sherry and mocha. The palate is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with a fine mousse, ripe acidity and a deep core. The finish is long and gently oxidative.
