Booker's Southern Thunder is the third named batch of 2026, a seven-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at barrel strength, 62.9% ABV, in a 750ml bottle. It is made at the James B. Beam Distilling Company in Clermont, Kentucky.
The barrels for each batch are aged in the centre of the rickhouse, and the bourbon is bottled without added water and without chill filtration. Booker's is named after Booker Noe, a sixth-generation master distiller.
Dense oak, charred barrel, roasted peanuts and dark caramel lead the nose. The palate is thick with caramel, vanilla, spicy rye and a coffee-like bitterness, and the finish is long, with oak tannins, dark chocolate and black pepper.
