This is the fifth private single barrel selection made by the Gallenstein family at Boone County Distilling Co. in Independence, Kentucky. Barrel B0565 holds a 12 year old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at barrel strength, 53.69% ABV (107.37 proof), without dilution or chill filtration.
The bourbon is made from an MGP-sourced mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley.
The nose is rich caramel, toasted oak, vanilla, dried fruit and warm baking spice. The palate is balanced and full, with toffee, cinnamon, charred oak, brown sugar and rye pepper. The finish is long and warm, with sweet oak and rye spice.
